Sadrul Hasan, Director of Stygen, is an e-commerce platform that specializes in gift items and gift delivery. They are offering a wide range of gift collections for almost every occasion of life including Birthday, Anniversary, Friendship Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Eid, Christmas and Puja.

Q. Hi, Hope you are doing well. Would you kindly tell me about your background, childhood, education, career, and what you are doing today?
Hi, hope you are also doing well. My childhood was very colorful. As my father was a police officer, we had to shift to a lot of places, and I had opportunities to study in 10+ schools to complete my SSC (Secondary School Certificate). I have made very close friends in almost every division of the country. I enjoyed my childhood very much and I am still missing those days.

I have completed my bachelor’s from Daffodil International University and master’s from University of Dhaka. Previously I have worked in big corporates like JTI (Japan Tobacco International), Nitol Motors Ltd, Gravity Trade International, Geeky Social, Qcoom, EW Villa Medica Bangladesh and Vista Electronics Ltd. I am also a member of the E-commerce Association Of  Bangladesh. I love to work with startups and now joined with my friends in our own startup at Stygen. 
 

Q. What’s Stygen? What are the services you offering now? How much has the service evolved over the past months? 

Stygen is an e-commerce platform that specializes in gift items and gift delivery.  Since the date we founded we are trying to build the largest online gift marketplace for Bangladeshis. We are offering a wide range of gift collections for almost every occasion of life including Birthday, Anniversary, Friendship Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Eid, Christmas & Puja. Anyone from any place in the world can place an order on our website to send home delivery of any gift to his/her loved ones inside Bangladesh. We are also offering catering orders to be delivered outside Bangladesh.

Q. Corporate culture is an important aspect of any corporation. Would you like to tell us about the corporate culture at Stygen?

Yes definitely, corporate culture is an important aspect for any successful organization. We at Stygen, try to follow a positive & progressive culture where we value customer satisfaction and innovation at the top.    

Q. What are the challenges for Stygen now and what challenges do you anticipate in the future?

The domain we are working, it’s a big domain. To gain efficiency in this business we need to invest a lot of in the branding & logistics sectors. And competition from other big players in the market is also a big threat for us. We will be able to create a strong position in the market soon, which will be better for us.    

Q. What leadership skills do you find most useful & How do you describe your leadership style?

My personal belief is that to be a successful leader you must be honest & acceptable to everyone. I always try to be honest with my juniors so they are also honest with me, and I also prefer leading by performing so they can follow my lead.   

Q. How do you spend your free time? What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?

In my free time, I spend time with my daughter and family members. Sometimes, I hang out with old college friends. I think friendship is the most important gift in life. I am good at making good friends. The professional achievement I’m most proud of! Perhaps when I managed to build a great Digital Marketing team in my last job as a Digital Marketing Head. I worked mostly with young people, with rough talent. I had to teach them everything, and also overcome the initial difficulties–the doubts they had, the series of rejections they experienced, and other challenges each young digital salesman deals with. But eventually, we managed to become the most successful e-commerce team in Bangladesh, and I certainly played a big part in our success story.

Q. Do you want to give our audiences tips or advice who want to start their own business or join corporates? It would be beneficial if you mention some of the general skills which are super essential.

Whether you join corporates or businesses, remember there’s not shortcut in life. To become successful, you must work hard and wait for the result. Oh, of course, be honest with yourself.
