The second-largest mobile operator, Robi Axiata Limited recently won the Singapore-based Award, CommunicAsia 2020 in the category of “Telecom Service Innovation in Response to the Covid-19”. Robi Axiata Limited is mainly a joint venture of the Asian telecom giant-with Axiata holding the majority shareholding in the joint venture.
As Covid-19 entered Bangladesh, Robi took several initiatives for intending to help its customers to survive the pandemic comprising digital healthcare products such as Health-Plus and LifePlus, stated by the press release.
The category remains an innovative solution to serve its consumers, along with enterprise customers during the Covid-19 pandemic and Robi was able to do so. Robi tried to make their health care services to be more affordable and easily accessible by which the consumers will be beneficial during these circumstances. This extraordinary mobile-based healthcare model mainly mirrored after the Uber model and a specially crafted COVID insurance package. Also, the first-ever “COVID Travel Insurance” had launched, which was a substantial discovery.
Furthermore, Robi overcame with the gap in connectivity between the farmers with the help of the digital Agro bundle and created the OTT (Over-The-Top) communication platform, Krishi Bhai app. The Phone loan campaign was also successful in reducing the existing digital divide in the country.
Although initiatives like Women-Leadership & Retailer-Financing made enormous empowerment to bring back struggling retailers during the pandemic, which eventually led the company towards achieving the global award.
